On 19th May, CODAH hosted a half-day event featuring Prof David Berry‘s keynote lecture on AI and ethics. As a leading scholar in Digital Humanities, Prof Berry writes extensively on the theoretical and medium-specific challenges of understanding digital and computational media. One of his recent publications is a book on Digital Humanities: Knowledge and Critique.
Prof Berry shared with CODAH members his research into the way in which artificial intelligence and machine-learning are articulated in relation to arts and humanities knowledges – particularly notions of augmentating, automating and informating. Dr Anna Bortolan, Dr Leighton Evans and Dr Paddy McQueen joined Prof Berry for a thought-provoking panel discussion exploring this topic further afterwards.
