We have a major – and very exciting – amendment to the 2024 CODAH symposium. Our focus remains on the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the arts and humanities. However, we have an additional speaker at the event. Professor Jordan Frith of Clemson University, South Carolina, USA, will be joining us on the day to give a paper on AI and infrastructure. Jordan is a world-class scholar in Digital Media, and we are extremely lucky to have him join us this year!
So, the detailed itinerary of the day is now:

10.00 – Andy Hoskins (University of Glasgow) – AI and Memory: The Past That Never Existed is Here
10.30 – Phil Newton (Swansea University) – The Impact of AI on Higher Education. What Does the Evidence Currently Show?
11.00 – 15-minute break
11.15 – Eve Moriarty (Swansea University) – Automatic Writing: Poetry and Generative AI
11.45 – Jordan Frith (Clemson University) – Embracing Infrastructural Literacies: AI’s Fast-Approaching Data Wall and its Potential Impacts for Humanistic Research
12.15 – Lunch
Following lunch, we will have a roundtable discussion with the speakers and other members of our community from 1-2pm, chaired by NAIADES lead Dr Frederic Boy. The purpose of this will be creating a proof of concept for further research deriving from the event.
The symposium will take place on Thursday 20th June 2024 in Room 221, Digital Technium, Singleton Park Campus, Swansea University. The event will begin at 9.30am.
